AUTISM SOCIETY OF ALABAMA COMMUNICATION PLAN
Final Communication Plan:
During the spring 2022 semester, I took APR 332, or PR writing. This class was fully focused on perfecting AP style and focusing on writing for public relations purposes, rather than journalism.

My class was fortunate enough to work with an actual client in order to implement the skills learned in the classroom. We worked with the Autism Society of Alabama on a full semester communication plan in order to sell tickets for their annual Autism Shines Gala. Our communication plans included press releases, social media posts, radio spot scripts, commercial scripts and numerous objectives, strategies and tactics.

The benefit of working with a real client for this class included having our work picked up to actually be used in an effort to help the client. I had multiple pieces chosen as the best in the class to be sent to the client for real world use.

The public relations department at UA really places an emphasis on community engagement and service learning and this class was my first experience with either of those. Learning how to write effectively and concisely while also perfecting my AP style skills made this class the most foundational class I have taken within my major to date.
